I was raised in North Minneapolis and began my gardening journey summer of 2011 when a tornado hit our neighborhood. That summer we beautified the North side and grew food, with a non-profit called project Sweetie Pie, a transformative experience for me. After my summer with Project Sweetie Pie, I continued work in agriculture with an organization called Youth Farm. I was so inspired that I developed my own garden installation business, called Divine's Urban Gardens (D.U.G.). I graduated from St. Catherine University in Business Administration and look forward to continuing to help my community, one day at a time. I am excited for a year of service with The Family of Trees as a Community Forestry Americorps member.

Our aim is to restore the urban forest canopy that has been drastically reduced in, the last half-century.  The funds raised will be used for obtaining trees and seedlings, maintaining local gardens, purchasing building materials for constructing five gravel bed tree farms in North Minneapolis.

We intend to continue this beautiful urban forestry expansion project far beyond North Minneapolis. The power is in our hands and we intend to make a major impact on the carbon footprint of Minneapolis by implementing long-term restorative and regenerative efforts.
